At the start of your journey check that the steering is light, as it usually is, and that it is not heavy. With the engine switched off the steering should be heavy, and light when the engine is switched on.
If your steering becomes heavy while you are driving, this may indicate a fault. Have the problem investigated by a qualified mechanic.
This check on your car should be performed weekly.
Proper maintenance of your vehicle is essential for reliability, safety and economy. Poor maintenance will lead to breakdowns, expense, poor fuel economy and a potentially dangerous vehicle. If in doubt, get someone who knows what they are doing to help. If necessary take your car to a mechanic.
